Retour au lieu d’origine pour ce salon hébergé du 2 au 4 juin dans l’Olympia center sur Kensington, au sud-ouest de Londres. Après des années de ballotage et de diminution de l’affluence inversement proportionnelle au succès du salon de Prowein à Düsseldorf, la session 2014 dans un lieu d’exposition beaucoup plus compact donne l’illusion d’un regain d’activité, tout en imposant un périple plutôt sportif au visiteur devant courir au devant de ses rendez-vous sur trois halls et deux étages.
Question de remplissage ? le concept « Esoterica » rassemble en mezzanine quelques 61 « Independant Wine Merchants » (petits professionnels du vins pouvant aller du vépéciste au grossiste régional en passant par le caviste), chacun pouvant présenter jusqu’à 14 vins. L’idée permet en principe d’aborder ces partenaires commerciaux potentiels… à condition d’arriver à se faire entendre et se frayer un passage jusqu’aux tables, l’espace se transformant en (très) bruyante buvette après le déjeuner.
Back to the Olympia Center on Kensington, the London Wine Fair took place in the exhibition halls of its origins from June 2 to 4, 2014. In the past years, the London show suffered of a lack of attendance which seemed to be inversely proportional to the increasing success of the Prowein Messe in Düsseldorf. Now back to a more compact exhibition center, the show gave the illusion of renewed activity, whereas requesting fit visitors who had to run from one appointment to the other spread in 3 halls and two levels.
Is it a matter of Filling coefficient ? the new “Esoterica” concept brings together on a mezzanine, about 61 « Independant Wine Merc hants » of all sizes and importance, each of them allowed to offer up to 14 wines for tasting. A seemingly good way to approach potential commercial partners of human size as an alternative to the giants leaders of the market…. Provided one manages to reach a table and then make himself heard, the whole mezzanine turning into a (very noisy) bar after lunch !
